The advantages to a guardianship are if you have a relative or loved one that lacks mental capacity, and they can no longer manage their finances or their healthcare that you can step in and assist them with it. The disadvantages to a guardianship are the fact that it is a court proceeding. You do have to have court involvement, and therefore it becomes more costly.
